Matchup War Room

The War Room tab on the My Team page turns your live head-to-head matchup into a nightly action plan. It projects where every scoring category will finish, tells you which ones are still winnable, and names the free-agent streamers that can flip a toss-up your way.

Who sees it

The War Room is built for head-to-head category leagues. It is hidden for rotisserie, season-long points, and head-to-head points leagues, where “winning a category this week” doesn’t apply. If your league qualifies, a War Room tab appears next to Roster.

Behavior is identical for redraft and dynasty leagues.

What it shows

For each scoring category you get:

Current tally — your live cumulative score and your opponent’s, straight from ESPN.
Projected final — current tally plus your roster’s projected rest-of-week production.
Win probability — the chance you finish ahead in that category, shown as a bar and a percentage.
Status — one of:
- Likely win — you’re comfortably ahead.
- Toss-up — genuinely up for grabs; worth chasing.
- Likely loss — you’re behind but not out.
- Punt — realistically out of reach; concede it and redirect effort.

A header summary distills the week into plain guidance — for example, “Concede SV — out of reach this week. Redirect FAAB and streamers toward K and WHIP to swing the matchup.”

When AI is available, that summary is upgraded to a ✨ Game Plan — a short (under-150-word) AI-written plan for the week: which categories to chase, which to concede, which streamers to grab, and when. It’s refreshed about once a day for your matchup. Without AI (the server has no Anthropic API key configured), you get the templated summary instead — same guidance, less prose.

Streamers to flip toss-ups

Expand any toss-up category to see the top free agents who can move it, ranked by their projected win-probability lift. Each suggestion shows the player’s expected contribution to that category this week and how much it raises your odds. Pitching categories respect probable-start schedules, so a streamer with two starts left this week is valued accordingly.

The War Room only suggests streamers for toss-ups — it won’t spam categories you’ve already locked up or ones that are out of reach. Players who are out for the season (on the 60-day IL) are never suggested as streamers, since the streamer pool respects the same daily injury gate as Pickups.

How the projection works

Rest-of-week production is estimated from each player’s Steamer rest-of-season projection, prorated by how many games their MLB team has left in the matchup week:

Hitters prorate by remaining team games.
Starting pitchers prorate by expected starts (using announced probable pitchers when available).
Rate stats (AVG, OBP, ERA, WHIP) are recomputed from projected volume rather than averaged, and inverse categories (ERA, WHIP — lower is better) are handled correctly.

The matchup week is assumed to run Monday–Sunday, so projections are labeled “through Sunday.”

Assumptions and limits

Weekly matchups are assumed Monday–Sunday. Playoff periods spanning multiple weeks and daily-transaction leagues use the same weekly window in this version.
The War Room recommends adds and streamers; it never executes roster moves for you.
