The League Rag

The League Rag is your league’s weekly newsletter, written for you. Every Monday, Batter’s Eye reads the week that just ended and writes a recap: who won their matchup and how, the smartest waiver pickup, the drop someone will regret, letter-graded trades, and who’s climbing or sliding in the standings — with a little good-natured trash talk. Each week is published at a public link you can drop straight into your league chat.

What’s in a recap

• Matchup narratives — a punchy paragraph per matchup naming the winner, the final category tally, and the categories that decided it.
• Waiver Wire — a “Steal of the Week” (the smartest add) and the “Most Questionable Drop” of the week.
• Trade grades — a letter grade per side for any trades that went through. (No trades that week? The section simply doesn’t appear.)
• Standings movement — the week’s biggest riser and faller, and who’s on top.
• Next week — a forward-looking hook to set up the coming week.

The recap’s tone follows your league format (see below) — a redraft recap stays focused on the current season, while a dynasty recap weaves in contention windows and the long game.

Turning it on

Recaps are off by default. As the league creator, open your league, go to the Admin tab, and find The League Rag card:

1. Toggle Enable weekly recaps on.
2. Pick your league format — Redraft, Keeper, or Dynasty.
3. Pick a Voice (see below).

That’s it. The first recap generates automatically on the next Monday after a completed week. You can also hit Generate now to create (or refresh) the most recent week’s recap immediately — manual generations are limited to a few per day.

Voices

The recap is the one place the writing is the product, so you get to pick who’s holding the pen. A voice changes how the recap reads — never what it reports. Every voice works under any league format, refers to teams only by their fantasy team name, and never invents a stat or storyline to serve a joke: facts always win over flavor.

• Beat Writer (default) — a sharp local beat reporter: clean, punchy prose, summarizing headlines, and an affectionate needle. This is the original League Rag voice.
• Studio Analyst — an ESPN studio-desk analyst mid-segment: one debatable hot take per matchup, then credit where it’s due, narrated like the numbers just hit the screen.
• Degenerate — your most unhinged league-mate at 1 a.m.: filthy, savage, and genuinely funny, roasting the moves (never the people). This voice is explicit — it swears. Because every recap has a public share page, selecting it requires ticking a checkbox to confirm you understand it’s explicit and the page is public — and recaps written in this voice show a brief content notice on their share page. It is never the default.

You can switch voices anytime, then hit Generate now to re-write the latest week in the new voice and compare.

Reading and sharing recaps

Every league member sees the latest recap right on the League page — a “The League Rag” card above the tabs with a Read button, a copy-link button, and previous weeks behind an expander. The creator additionally manages generation from the Admin tab, where each recap also has copy-link and open buttons.

Each published week has its own public page at batters-eye.com/rag/{link}. Paste the link anywhere — like player share cards, recap links unfurl into a rich preview image in Discord, iMessage, Slack, and social apps, so the link expands into a card in the conversation. Anyone can read it, signed in or not.

Privacy

Recaps refer to teams only by their fantasy team name — the name managers chose. Real owner names are never included in a recap, its share page, or its preview image. Nothing about rosters, credentials, or accounts appears either.
